Upgrading your tractor with a heavy-duty tractor fiber hood (also known as a Punjabi hood or chatri) is one of the best investments you can make for field work. - High-tensile nuts, bolts, and rubber washers (usually provided by the manufacturer)
- A measuring tape and a spirit level
- At least two people to help lift and position the hood
Step-by-Step Installation Process
1. Prepare the Mounting Brackets
Start by identifying the mounting points on your tractor's mudguards or axle housing. Secure the heavy-duty iron brackets (chimtas) provided with your hood. Do not fully tighten the bolts yet; leave them slightly loose to allow for adjustments.
2. Lift and Position the Canopy
With the help of your assistants, carefully lift the tractor fiber chatri and align it with the mounting brackets. Make sure the hood is perfectly centered over the driver's seat.
3. Secure with Rubber Washers
Insert the high-tensile bolts through the hood and brackets. Crucial step: Always use thick rubber washers between the fiber hood and the metal brackets. This absorbs vibrations from the engine and prevents the fiber from cracking over time.
4. Final Tightening and Alignment
Use your spirit level to ensure the hood is straight. Once perfectly aligned, tighten all nuts securely in a cross-pattern to ensure even pressure distribution.
